Student housing plans in Bridge of Allan approved dispite objections

Plans to build new student accommodation in a listed building in Bride of Allan have been given council approval, despite objections from local residents.

The plans to turn offices on Henderson Street into a 'house of multiple occupancy' (HMO) for students was approved by the Stirling Council planning appeal committee by four votes to three, after it had been referred by local councillor Graham Houston, who said the plans would cause traffic problems.

I think that using an old office building as student accommodation would be a perfect idea. the notion that it might cause excess traffic is rather far-fetched and the Cllr Graham Houston seems to have a different agenda.

I think it is all too easy to cast aside plans to improve and increase the number of student based accommodation in and around Bridge of Allan. The students bring a sizeable amount of money into the area and without them it would be a different story for the local economy.
