Police tackle Bridge of Allan anti-social behaviour but still have concerns over driving offences

by Rebecca Garrett

The latest community police PACT priority results show that tackling anti-social behaviour in Bridge of Allan has been successful - but there are still issues with speeding and parking offences.

The priorities for the last few months (October-December 2011) were to reduce anti-social behaviour in the Haws Park area, to educate and enforce speed restrictions on Cornton Road and to educate and enforce parking restrictions on Henderson Street.

During this period, there was one call relating to anti-social behaviour at the start of October 2011, but there have been none since.

However, PC Emma Roxburgh said that police will continue to monitor the area to allow quick response to any alerts in future.

She said: “Over the three months from October to December, I along with my colleagues in the community team carried out various high visibility patrols in the area of Haws Park.

“During this reporting period those who were committing anti-social behaviour in this area appear to have ceased.”

With regards to speeding, whilst there were 40 police warnings and seven conditional offers of fixed penalty issued, there were no complaints of anyone speeding on Cornton Road.

PC Roxburgh said: “It is clear that there are still significant numbers of people not adhering to the speed restrictions in this area and I will be continuing to carry out enforcement in this area over the coming weeks.”

In Henderson Street, there were 27 fixed penalties issued for parking offences.

PC Roxburgh said: “A welcome sight to the local community of Bridge of Allan was the regular presence of the community traffic warden on Henderson Street and unfortunately he was kept busy whenever he was in Bridge of Allan.

“This is another issue which is unlikely to go away for too long therefore I will be looking to ensure we have regular visits from traffic wardens to enforce the parking restrictions in the area over the coming weeks and months.”

PC Roxburgh will be discussing the upcoming PACT Priorities at the next Bridge of Allan Community Council meeting on Friday, January 20.
